Programs & Initiatives
Foothills United Way is dedicated to engaging our community in order to change conditions and improve lives. More than just meeting needs today, it’s about creating long-term, sustainable change.
The collective power of the financial, volunteer and in-kind contributions of our donors and partners allows for impressive achievement in Foothills United Way’s Partnerships, Initiatives and Impact Areas.
Foothills United Way’s four identified areas of greatest need, or Impact Areas, are:
Delivery of basic, emergency and transitional needs assistance, including food, clothing and shelter. |
Mental health programs, substance abuse prevention, medical and dental care and health education for all populations. |
Supporting the learning, development and positive growth of children and youth. |
Assisting seniors to remain independent and involved in their community. |
Foothills United Way has been very successful in bringing new, innovative programs and initiatives to our community, to meet emergent needs and enhance the effectiveness of the identified Impact Areas.

Colorado 2-1-1, in which Foothills United Way is a founding partner, continued its expansion statewide. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember phone number that connects people who need assistance with the agencies and programs that can help. The strength of existing 2-1-1 programs such as Colorado’s set the stage for the introduction of the Calling for 2-1-1 Act in the U.S. House and Senate in early 2007. |

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program was created by the Federal Government in 1983 to supplement the work of local social service organizations to help people in need of emergency food and shelter assistance. This collaborative effort between the private and public sectors has disbursed more than $2.3 billion in Federal funds. |
