Q. Who can participate in Day of Caring?
A. Any company, community group, social group or individual interested in  
making a positive difference in our community. All participants must be at least 18 years old.

Q. What type of project will we do on Day of Caring?
A. You will have a wide variety of projects to choose from including arts & crafts, 
cleaning & clerical, construction, human service, landscaping, and painting.  A representative from your organization will choose your project(s).

Q. How long do Day of Caring Projects take to complete?
A. Most projects are scheduled from 8:00 a.m.-noon. This four hour time period includes time for an initial orientation and any necessary clean-up at the end of the project.

Q. Do volunteers have to pay in order to participate?
A. No! Day of Caring is a free event. However, if you or your organization are interested in becoming a financial sponsor for Day of Caring, please complete a Sponsorship Commitment Form. Contact Foothills United Way for additional details.

Q. What will volunteers be required to provide for the project?
A. Volunteers will only need to provide the time and energy necessary to complete their projects. The project hosts are responsible for providing all major supplies and tools required. In a limited number of cases an project host may request that volunteers bring a small number of extra tools or supplies.

Q. What is the Day of Caring Picnic?
A. The Day of Caring picnic is a free lunch and celebration, compliments of our Day of Caring sponsors, open to all Day of Caring volunteers and project host personnel. The picnic offers Day of Caring participants the chance to unwind, meet other volunteers, play games and be recognized for their efforts. The picnic also serves as the official kickoff of our annual Community Support Campaign.

Q. What do we do if it rains on Day of Caring?
A. There is no official rain date for Day of Caring. If your group is scheduled to do an outdoor project, most project hosts will have an alternate indoor project for you.  If your project host does not have an indoor project or if you would still like to complete your outdoor project, you may schedule an alternate date with the project 
host.

Q. What can we do if we want to participate, but are not able to volunteer on August 14th?
A. If you would like to participate, but require an alternate date or time, please contact Foothills United Way and our staff will work to coordinate a project date that works for you.
