Frequently Asked Questions
Who is United Way?
United Way does what no other organization can...we coordinate the collective strength of individual donors, local businesses, non-profit partners, and community resources. Together we deliver long-term solutions for individuals and families in our community, empowering them to become more productive members of our community for years to come. When you give to United Way, together we can do what none of us can do alone.
Who governs United Way?
Our Executive Committee and Board of Directors, with the help of volunteers help assess community needs, raise and distrinute contributions, set policy, examine our budget and promote our message throughout the community.
How much of my donation goes to the services versus administrative costs?
In addition to putting your dollars to work helping people in need, we are committed to keeping our expenses low. We invest 85% of all donations toward programs and initiatives.
How does United Way hold itself accountable?
The most valuable asset we have is the trust and confidence people have in our ability to meet community needs. We are audited each year by an independent accounting firm to ensure we are in compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures and the law. We strive to meet the philanthropic goals of our donors and offer a donor satisfaction guarantee.
What are my giving options?
Invest in one or all four of our Impact Areas. Your contribution has the greatest impact when you support all related initiatives. At the same time, you will be supporting our network of partner agencies. You may, however, choose to support only one or two of our initiatives. Whatever you choose, you will make a lasting impact on someone's life. You also have the option of designating your gift to any partner agency or 501 (c)(3) organization.
