Financial Stability
Foothills United Way Focus on: Financial Stability
Foothills United Way's emphasis on financial stability supports increasing skills training for improved employability and economic self-sufficiency, with the expected outcome that people will be abloe to move toward financial independence.
As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits. For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.
In 2008, United Way Worldwide initiated an ambitious 10-year plan to cut in half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable. With your help, we believe that by 2018 we can help 1.9 million working families get on the road to economic independence. Locally, Foothills United Way supports programs in Boulder and Broomfield Counties that teach finacial management skills, promote job skills education and help individuals and families work toward financial independence.
