Foothills United Way, a local nonprofit serving Boulder and Broomfield counties, will hold its 22nd Day of Caring volunteer event from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 9.
More than 1,000 volunteers from over 30 businesses and organizations across the area are registered to work on more than 60 projects across the two counties.
"The giving spirit throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties is almost infectious," said Doug Yeiser, CEO, Foothills United Way, in a statement. "We love seeing nearly 1,000 volunteers from businesses throughout the area join together on Day of Caring with the sole purpose of helping others.
"It shows just how powerful we can be when working with one another."
These community projects consist of landscaping, painting, harvesting, building, refurbishing and more. In 2015, volunteers completed nearly 50 projects and contributed 3,780 hours of volunteer time.
A picnic will be held at Gateway Park, 4800 North 28th Street, in Boulder, following the morning's activities.
Day of Caring 2016 is sponsored by Holland & Hart, Lexmark, Chase, Corden-Pharma, IBM, Mountainside Medical, BoulderDaily Camera, Longmont Times-Call, Boulder Magazine, Boulder Home & Garden, Ben & Jerry's, Pasta Jay's and Gateway Fun Park.
