Imagination Library
Imagination Library was created by the Dollywood Foundation in 1996 to provide books for preschoolers in Sevier County, Tennessee. Through enrollment in the Library, children ages 0-5 receive a book mailed to their home each month. The Foundation works in partnership with local organizations to replicate the program in other communities across the country. In April 2003, a group of interested citizens and organizations came together to bring the program to Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
Foothills United Way serves as the fiscal agent for the program and maintains the local database. Rotary Clubs in Boulder and Broomfield Counties were instrumental in providing funds and volunteer time to help establish Imagination Library locally and continue to be the largest supporters of the program. Zonta Foothills Club in Boulder is a founding partner and continues to provide support as do many private individuals who have committed funds to help sponsor children enrolled in the program.
Through July 2009, nearly 1,300 children have received more than 30,500 books through the program in Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
